At BrandCymru, we are proud to offer high quality effective solutions for developing brand identities. We are honest, upfront and very competitive in our prices and believe that local businesses should be provided with help and support in growth, that doesn’t cost the earth.

Here, we showcase a local Torfaen business ‘Sparkling Parties’. The managing director, Jo Lloyd came to BrandCymru wanting to start her own business, but had little idea of how to create and manage her brand. All that she had was, like many other start-ups, was a great business idea and a name.

After our initial discussion, We concluded that our Standard Brand Package for Startups & SMES would best suit her requirements and put her business in a suitable position to launch.

After researching the proposed business (target market, competitors and services to be provided) a design brief was constructed.

1.     The Design Brief

“'Sparkling Parties' is a new business based in South Wales, and specialises in the hire of event styling accessories and props, such as chair covers, tableware and styling accessories. The basis of the business is that all decor and accessories can be hired for any specific event, such as weddings, birthdays & corporate parties.

The unique selling point of the business is that it aims to provide a unique selection of 'finishing touches' to an event that will capture the essence of a memorable day, regardless of budget, scale or client.

Initially, the target market for the business will be to attract local custom within the South Wales area. This will include couples requiring wedding decor, birthday parties (both children & adult) and local businesses that require styling for corporate events.

A logo design is required for the business that will develop the brand into a leading service provider for the South Wales area, and once established, aim to market itself nationwide.

The logo needs to be something of beauty, and of contemporary style, portraying the magic that the business will provide to clients’ events. Preferred colours are bold and rich, such as black, gold and silver with a mark that will symbolise the core business services.

The final logo will then be used on websites, promotional literature and marketing material such as corporate stationery.”

This Design Brief was used to form the guidelines on which the logo and website would be designed.

2.     Mind Mapping

Once the Design Brief was finalised, a mind mapping session  took place, using key words that are centred around the design brief. This is a useful tool for generating ideas and associating words with images and symbols.

3.     Logo Concepts

Initial sketches are drawn along with conceptual logo designs. These are predominantly created in monotone so that both designer and client are focused on comparing shapes and symbols, rather than colours. These designs were shown to the client and revisions and amendments were discussed.

4.     Final Design

After two rounds of revisions of initial design logo concepts, a final design was chosen and refined to fit the design brief. The final logo, is a contemporary part scripted logotype  that will work on a variety of media such as web, and large / small scale print .

5.     Development of website, Social Media & Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Once the the logo had been completed, the theme of the website and twitter & facebook pages could be based around this. An efficient, easily navigated menu system was created so that the focus of the website was the quality of service and products the business will be providing.

A facebook page and twitter account were created to promote the business, and the website optimised for search engines. The result was that within 24hrs sparklingparties.com was visible on the first page of google when ‘wedding styling torfaen’ was searched. It is also currently visible on the first page of google when ‘event styling Torfaen’ and ‘party styling gwent’, amongst others, are searched.
